Professor Assaf Meydani, President

Prof. Assaf Meydani is a full Professor and Dean of the School of Government and Society at the Academic College of Tel Aviv, Yaffo, Israel. His research interests include public policy, politics and law, and political economy. 

 

Prof. Meydani has been a Visiting Scholar at the Center for New Institutional Science at Washington University in St Louis, Missouri; the Institute of Management, Innovation, and Organization at the University of California, Berkeley; at the Centre for the Study of Judicial Institutions & the Centre for Public Policy Analysis at the Department of Political Science University of Bologna, Italy and at the Center for Socio-Legal Studies, University of Oxford. 

 

He is the author of several books among them The Anatomy of Human Rights in Israel, Constitutional Rhetoric and State Practice (Cambridge University Press, 2014); The Israeli Supreme Court and the Human Rights Revolution, Courts as Agenda Setters (Cambridge University Press, 2011) and Political Transformations and Political Entrepreneurs: Israel in Comparative Perspective (Palgrave Macmillan, 2009). 

Dr. Osnat Akirav, Vice president

Osnat Akirav is a senior lecturer in Political Science at the Western Galilee College, Israel and the head of the department of political science at the Western Galilee College. She holds a PhD from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and postdoc from UCSD. In 2016 she was a visiting scholar at Stanford university. Her specialization is in legislative studies, setting the agenda, candidate selection methods, local government, gender and politics, minorities and politics, research methods and Israeli political system. She has numerous publications on the representative behavior in local government and in parliaments. She served 10 years as local council representative. In 2010 and in 2015 she received a prize for outstanding teaching in political science from the American Political Science Association and in 2012 she received Edmond Safra award for outstanding achievement and excellence. In 2012 and 2016 she received a prize for best article from the Israeli Political Science Association. In 2015 and 2018 She received a prize for excellent researcher from the Western Galilee College.

Dr. Omri Shamir

Dr. Omri Shamir is a professor and researcher in the Department of Politics and Government at Ashkelon Academic College. His areas of expertise are: political consumerism, public administration and policy, Israeli politics and religion-state relations. In 2015 he won the ISPSA prize for outstanding article in Hebrew, published in the journal WPSR sponsored by IPSA. Omri also served as a visiting scholar of Jewish Studies center at the University of Florida, USA.

Dr. Ravit Hananel

Dr. Hananel holds a PhD in planning cities and regions, Faculty of Architecture and Planning Planning at the Technion, and has advanced degrees in information science, sociology and anthropology from Tel Aviv University. Dr. Hananel studies policy planning and allocation of public resources, and the relationship between politics, space and Society. More narrowly, Hananel focuses on the relationship between public institutions, decision-making and regulatory questions of distributive justice and social equality.

Dr. Efrat Knoller

Expertise: Israeli Politics, Human Resources. Professor at Safed Academic College and Bar Ilan University. Head of the management and human resources, local government and political science programs at the College and is the chairperson of the faculty association.

Dr. Ranan Kuperman

Dr. Kuperman's major research interests are decision making in complex and dynamic environments. Most of his research focuses on conflicts between governments and non-state actors and experiments with microworld simulations.

Professor David Nachmias

Professor Nachmias is the Head of Specialization in Policy and Public Administration, Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy at IDC Herzliya. In addition, he serves as Head of the "New Government Project to Israel". In 1994 he won the prestigious Donald Campbell Award for "Methodological Innovations in Policy Studies", and in 2010 he was awarded the Lifetime signal from the Israeli Association of Political Science.

Dr. Jennifer Oser

Dr. Jennifer Oser is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics and Government, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev since October 2014. She conducted research abroad as a Visiting Research Fellow at Harvard University’s Multidisciplinary Program on Inequality and Social Policy (2010-2012), and as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania’s Annnenberg School for Communication (2010-2014). Dr. Oser served as a Senior Researcher (Post-doctoral Research Associate) for the research project “Linkage Mechanisms between Citizens and the State” (2012-2014), a project funded by a European Research Council Advanced Grant awarded to Principle Investigator Prof. Marc Hooghe.

Dr. Dennis Sharvit

Dr. Sharvit has a BA (Hons) in Political Science and International Relations, Hebrew University of Jerusalem and an MA (Hons) in Political Science. He graduated his Ph.D in Frenchwith honors at Tel Aviv University. Areas of study include intellectual and cultural history (France, 20th century) and the history of ideas (Zionism).
